Project Detail

On 14 May 2010, on his third day in office, the Prime Minister stated his ambition for this to be the ‘greenest government ever’. He reinforced this by:

committing the government to reducing carbon dioxide emissions from the government estate by 10% within 12 months and;

committing that the public will be able to see real time energy consumption online for every department’s HQ building.   The 10%  target covers all Whitehall departments and most executive agencies plus a number of NDPBs who participate voluntarily. All departments have submitted plans detailing how they intend to reduce emissions over the year, and the pan-government total reduction is projected to be 13%.

This page on Spark can be used to post updates on the 10% programme along with case studies, snippets of information, sharing evaluation of the programme and disseminate future plans for the 10% campaign.
