CCTV cameras »

Delivered

The CCTV monitoring service is provided by the Council and currently housed within the Town Hall. The redevelopment of the Town Hall has prompted a review of the service and where best the service can be provided from. Following discussions with GMP it has been agreed that the service will be relocated within Stretford Police Station to build upon the close working relationship between the Monitoring officers and Police personnel. The move will remove the locational boundaries which have hampered full integration of the intelligence available. The review also highlighted that the cost of a ‘lift and shift’ of the existing monitoring matrix would be the same cost as would purchasing a new IP based system which is digital and wireless based providing higher quality pictures. There is also the advantage that upto a 1,000 cameras can be added to the matrix, current provision is 120.
